Le Roi Fou
Le Roi Fou opened in April 2017 and is the brainchild of chef Jerome Henry (previously Head Chef at Anton Mosimann’s Private Dining Club and Les Trois Garçons in London’s Belgravia and Shoreditch respectively) and his creative director Isolde Nash. Its name translates as “The Mad King” from French and it’s no surprise it was crowned Best New Restaurant 2017 at the Scottish Food Awards in May.
Jerome Henry creates dishes at Le Roi Fou which present the best of Scottish produce cooked in a natural and healthy way, with influences of his French and Swiss roots and experience of cooking in Chicago, London, Spain, South America and Asia. He loves simple food with authentic flavour. Freshness and quality is his first thought in creating a dish. His classical training is imbued with his memory of food eaten all over the world.
Now, not only does Jerome at Le Roi Fou provide an award-winning dining experience but with each bill, they enable the planting of a fruit tree in the developing world. These trees, will not only counterbalance the environmental impact of each diner’s meal but will also help to provide some of the planet’s poorest communities with an opportunity of sustainable life for them and many generations to come.
Le Roi Fou help to provide “exit strategy aid”. This follows a simple but proven process: Provide education in agroforestry and land management, as well as infrastructure and trees, helping to create long-term sustainability.
