The Little Viet Kitchen started life as a food blog and supper club.

After over a year hosting people from her flat in Angel, Executive Chef Thuy Pham ran a much-acclaimed pop-up in Highbury, before focusing her attention on opening her restaurant, The Little Viet Kitchen, in Chapel Market, Islington.

The restaurant is lovingly designed, and Thuy has kept the same focus on traditional dishes paying homage to her childhood whilst mixing in the occasional influence from her life in London. Dishes range from spring rolls and crab & papaya salad to the mouth-watering slow braised beef short rib coconut and lemongrass curry and the national dish of Vietnam, an 8-hour organic beef pho.

And if you felt like you missed out on that fantastic supper club, don’t worry! They still run it on a monthly basis, using it as a place to test new dishes in an intimate atmosphere.

Now, not only does The Little Viet Kitchen provide outstanding, authentic Vietnamese food, but with each bill, they enable the planting of a fruit tree in the developing world. These trees, will not only counterbalance the environmental impact of each diner’s meal but will also help to provide some of the planet’s poorest communities with an opportunity of sustainable life for them and many generations to come.

Working within a network across Africa, Asia and South America, the Little Viet Kitchen help to provide “exit strategy aid”. This follows a simple but proven process: Provide education in agroforestry and land management, as well as infrastructure and trees, helping to create long-term sustainability.
